Wall-climbling robot scales nearly any building material
Most of the bots we've seen recently have either been targeted at performing human-like tasks or simply too adorable to actually fear, but SRI International's wall-climbing robot is doing its best to put some terror back in the bot game ... read more...

MAKE @ FIRST (Day 2)
Today is our last day at New York City FIRST Robotics Competition, thousands of kids, parents, mentors and teachers were on site for the competition and the career fair.
There are a few competitions, the FIRST LEGO league is designed for young people ages 9-14, it uses uses the LEGO MindStorms System to provide creative technological experiences for younger children.
Robotics competition - The core of the high school-level FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is the design and building of a robotic competitor. Working in teams, students have just six weeks to create their robot. They get the opportunity to work with programmable radio controls, pneumatics, motors, electrical circuits, mechanics, machining, web design, computer animation, computer assisted design, and other technologies - just like professional engineers and technologists do.
Following the six-week design and build phase, teams enter local and regional competitions. In 2007, there were 37 regional competitions, with over 1,300 US high schools participating in the "game".
This year the robotics competition pitted teams against each other racing around a track knocking the other team's giant ball out of a holder and then stealing it away - more photos here.
Special thanks to all the Makers - MAKE subscribers who stopped by, the Dubno brothers, Dean Kamen, the teachers, students and new friends who we met and to Collin and Marc for helping me out on Saturday, thanks!
Editor's note: This is part of the "mobile post" series which will appear on MAKE - sponsored by Windows Mobile. Only the links and voice that appear in the mobile post box (below) are part of the campaign on MAKE - pt.

My Ass
Woke up this morning to find myself having difficulty getting out of the bed.
My whole body's muscles weren't exactly listening to my command, especially my ass.
I guess that's what happen when u started playing a sport again for 2 hours when the last real sport you had was like 10 years ago ! Alrite, in between, I did some other kind of sports which requires just my fingers and…. a keyboard.
Yesterday :
" Eh, Freethinker, my colleagues said spotted you playing badminton ! "
" Walau…news spread so fast ??!!! They left just 1 hour onli "
" We asked you play so many times you dowan !!! "
" Fine…. Play with you guys soon… "
So, I was like practically moving like a robot since this morning, and due to the awkward situation, I spend most of the time on the laptop doing some office work,
Then dinner time came. My cousins were here. They saw the "robot".
Soon after, both of them offered to massage me voluntarily. Dream come true.
So, they were massaging my shoulder and back in a way I was totally amazed.
Though my cousin sister was a bit rough. I screamed in pain when she first massaged my shoulder.
" Hey, can you be a lil more gentle. Pain ok…. Eh, tell you what, imagine I am your boyfriend ok, gentle a bit. "
I have no idea what her boyfriend did or did not do, but when she laid her hands on me again…I was screaming even harder, obviously I used the wrong keyword.
I did feel better on my shoulder and back when the two of them were done.
But …. I still feel the pain, at my ass. Somehow it just wasn't appropriate to ask them to massage that sensitive area…I can imagine my cousin sister kicking my ass than massaging it….
Hmm… now I hope my ass would be much better tomorrow or my client would notice something weird out of my robotic walking style
